Four Things You Must Be Willing To Do

Scripture: John 3:16-17

I.    Vs 16a       (Love)
The object of God’s love is the world, so God loves everybody. It does not
matter who you are or what you are, God loves you! This is amazing, because
the world (you and me) crucified Jesus on the cross. He died for our sins,
because he never committed adultery, murder, or lied on his taxes. So since
the goal of Christianity is to be like Jesus, you must be willing to love
people. Not just your family and friends, but everybody. I know this is hard
work, because people can be VERY difficult to deal with in any relationship.
*Point: Love is one of the badge of our salvation. “By this shall all men
know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” John 13:35.
Beloved love is not a feeling, but a choice.

II.    Vs. 16b      (Suffer)
There are some things in life that you must be willing to do solely for the
benefit of other people. Mothers understand this principle, because they
have given birth to a child. And all the ladies said “AMEN”.  Well Jesus was
betrayed, arrested, beaten, tortured, and crucified on the cross for your
benefit. Please take the time to read the entire chapter of Isaiah 53 and
reflect upon the manner in which Jesus died. Christ is our example of
humility and suffering, so in this life Christian you must be willing to
suffer. “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer
persecution” 2 Timothy 3:12. I do not like pain, but it has a purpose.

III.    Vs. 16c         (Believe)
The Lord loves you, Jesus suffered for you, but you must believe in him.
*Believe: trust/have faith in. Have: is in the present tense which means
believers possess this everlasting life now. Non-believers can possess
everlasting life now, if they believe in Christ finished work on the cross.
Whosoever means anybody can receive this free gift of salvation, but they
must believe. When I go to Costco/Sams they have all types of free samples.
Nobody seems to reject these free samples, but history will tell a story
that many people have rejected Christ. Please believe in Christ today and
for those who have trusted him with  your soul. Trust him with your life,
because he must be your Lord and Saviour. “For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved” Romans 10:13.

IV.    Vs. 17         (Forgive)
Three of the most powerful words are “I Love You”, but here are three more.
“I forgive you”. Jesus said both statements on the cross at Calvary. The
word forgive means to pardon, let go, release, or set-free. Please allow me
five minutes to praise the Lord. Ok, I’m back. Meditate on this statement,
“Forgiveness is a bridge everyone must cross, so don’t close the gate”.
*Point: I need to be forgiven and I need to forgive. Forgiveness is gift
from God that we are commanded to share. I have been married for over thirty
years and let me tell you something. I have paid a lot of tolls on the
bridge called forgiveness. Read Matthew 6:9-15 and Luke 17:3-5. The Lord
wants us to follow his example of love, suffering, trusting our Heavenly
Father, and forgiving. I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of work to
do. Christ sure set a high standard.

I hope this was a blessing to you.

How To Handle Bad News

 Job 1:20-22; 2:9-10

I.    Vs 20-21    (Worship)
The coronavirus can be labeled as bad news for several reasons, because
people have suffered loss at various levels. Job suffered the loss of his
family, wealth, and health, but he made a decision to worship the Lord. We
may be restricted by quarantines, and church closures, but we are free to
bless the Lord at all times. Too often we allow our circumstances to
determine our attitude, mood, and level of praise. But this is still “The
day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it” Psalm
118:24.

II.    Vs. 22    (Don’t Sin)
Here is a statement to consider “When things go well God gets none of the
credit, but when things go bad. God gets all of the blame”. I hope this
statement is not true in your life, because Job did not sin or complain. The
Lord has the right to do whatever he wants to do without getting our
permission. “WHY” Because he is GOD. Parents understand this principle,
because children are not old enough to vote as long as they live under your
roof. LOL. So when things do not go your way, don’t sin. Now is the time to
remember “And we know that all things work together for good to them that
love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28.

III.    Vs. 2:9-10    (Don’t Change)
Before Job lost seven sons, three daughters, servants, 7,000 sheep, 3,000
camel, 500 oxen and 500 donkeys. He was perfect, upright, feared God,
shunned evil, prayed, and gave offerings. After Job lost seven sons, three
daughters, servants, 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camel, 500 oxen and 500 donkeys, He
still was perfect, upright, feared God, shunned evil, prayed, and gave
offerings. Job did not change and retained his integrity. Most of the time
bad news changes people for the worse and not the better. So, child of God
since Malachi 3:6 says “For I am the Lord, I change not.” Don’t allow bad
news to change you.

I hope this was a blessing to you as we face the coronavirus togther with
the Lord.
